Drone Light Show Fails to Fly during New Year's Eve in Ancol

JAKARTA - Bad weather that hit North Jakarta and its surroundings has an impact on the failure of thousands of flying drones (drone light show) in the sky of Lagoon Beach, Ancol, North Jakarta on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

In fact, the light show drone was prepared as the culmination of the New Year celebration.

"Because of the rain, the drone was not flown," said PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol's Corporate Communication, Daniel Windriatmoko.

Daniel said that moderate rain continued to pour over the Ancol area from 23.00 WIB until 00.00 WIB.

This rainy condition made the drone that was prepared to fly fail to fly and the peak of the New Year's Eve celebration was filled with laser shows on the coast of Lagoon Beach.

Daniel explained that until 00.00 WIB, the number of visitors celebrating New Year's Eve at Ancol reached 65,800 people.

"The weather factor of rain since yesterday and today and no fireworks party indeed has an impact on visits today," he said.

Ancol management has decided to cancel the fireworks party on New Year's Eve as a form of empathy for victims of disasters on the island of Sumatra.
