Alissa Wahid, Gus Dur's Son Becomes Independent Commissioner At Unilever Indonesia, 'Accompanying' Ignasius Jonan And Fauzi Ichsan

JAKARTA - PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk overhauled the board of commissioners. This was decided in the company's annual general meeting of shareholders which was held on Thursday, May 27 yesterday.

The shareholder of the issuer coded UNVR appointed Alissa Wahid as an Independent Commissioner of Uniilever Indonesia. Alissa is the daughter of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur.

A little brief profile of Alissa, the 48-year-old woman is known for her contributions in the social sector, especially regarding multiculturalism, democracy and human rights, and the moderate Muslim movement in Indonesia.

Alissa, who also serves as the National Director of the Indonesian Gusdurian Network (GNI), has succeeded in engaging thousands of activists throughout Indonesia to promote dialogue and understanding between religions, active societies, democracy and human rights.

In 2019, he was appointed by the Minister of National Development Planning as the Ambassador of Indonesia's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while continuing to actively support various other social organizations and foundations, including Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) as the General Secretary of the Institute for Family Welfare.

In addition, UNVR also appointed Fauzi Ichsan as another new independent commissioner. This economic and financial practitioner has several successful experiences in previous positions such as Chief Executive of the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), Managing Director of Standard Chartered Bank, Senior Economic Advisor to the British Ambassador, and holding managerial positions with Citibank.

Currently, Fauzi also holds several positions as the Board of Commissioners at PT Bahana Development Business Indonesia (Persero), PT Manulife Asset Management Indonesia and PT AKR Corporindo Tbk. (AKRA).

Fauzi has a Bachelor of Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London, UK; and a Master in Development Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA.
