2026 New Year's Eve in the Sarinah Area and HI Roundabout Not Like Last Year

JAKARTA - The 2025-2026 New Year's Eve celebration in the Sarinah, Thamrin, Central Jakarta area on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, was not as crowded as the previous year.

From VOI's monitoring at the location, at around 22.25 WIB, the Wahid Hasim Street which is right next to the Sarinah building and the Bawaslu building was only filled with a number of street vendors (PKL).

There was no visible congestion of people in the Sarinah, Thamrin area. In addition, the MH Thamrin Street in front of the Sarinah building was also not crowded with people.

The mass point is just in front of the Sarinah stage which is enjoying the music. Meanwhile, at the intersection of Jalan MH Thamrin, there was no crowd of people.

"The people who came to the Sarinah area this year were not as many as last year's celebration, because there might not be a fireworks party," said the Satpol PP officer who was on duty in the area, Wednesday, December 31, 2025, evening.

Moreover, on Wednesday evening, the Bundaran HI area, Sarinah to Monas was showered with moderate intensity rain.

"Maybe because it's raining, it's quiet. But many people also come while wearing umbrellas and raincoats to see the music concert," he said.

Meanwhile, Ardi Putra (34) a resident of Bekasi admitted that he and his lover deliberately came to the Sarinah area to watch a music concert and enjoy the New Year's Eve.

"I came here after Isya, riding a motorcycle from Bekasi with my girlfriend. I really want to stay here for a year, because it's cheap," he said with a small laugh.

Ardi said he had prepared an umbrella from his house because he knew the weather this month was uncertain.

"Yesterday, I saw in the news that Jakarta was being rained on. That's why we prepared umbrellas from home. It turned out to be true, it was initially drizzle but it was quite heavy," said Ardi.
