HUBAE BOY Teen Film Promotes Taekwondo Sportsmanship

JAKARTA - The world of local cinema has once again received a fresh work that targets the teenage segment. Bandung-based production house, Bintang RR Pictures, officially announced their latest film project titled "HUBAE BOY".

Not to be outdone, they collaborated with Citrus Sinema and enlisted renowned director Pritagita Arianegara to direct the film.

The film, which was produced by Risdi A. Sulaeman and Vialga Claude Makaya, and supported by Executive Producers Irma Risma and H. Diding Supriadi, promises a different viewing experience.

HUBAE BOY not only sells ordinary teenage dramas, but also inserts the essence of sportsmanship from the martial art of Taekwondo into the story line.

In broad strokes, HUBAE BOY tells the story of Verril, a lazy teenager who spends his time only playing games. However, his life changes 180 degrees when he falls in love with Qiara, his dream classmate. In order to get the love of his heart, Verril also dares to join a Taekwondo club.

As the title suggests, HUBAE (in Korean means junior), this film depicts the figure of "Junior Boy" who learns about discipline and sportsmanship. The audience will be presented with attractive visuals with the background of modern life in the aesthetic city of Bandung.

A number of talented young actors and actresses also strengthen this film, including Emiliano Cortizo, Hasyakila, Rientammy Osava, Kaemitha, Billy Boedjanger, to Verril Quinn. The story presented is also claimed to be very related to the dynamics of today's teenage life.

RR Pictures' move to partner with Citrus Sinema is a surefire strategy to expand distribution reach. Later, Citrus Sinema will be responsible for marketing and distributing films, both for the big screen (cinema) and the Over-The-Top (OTT) platform.

Apart from Citrus Sinema, this project also involves Kuda Hitam Sinema, a production house that previously successfully made the horror film Teluh. Through this synergy, HUBAE BOY is expected to be a means of education for teenagers to be more productive and get to know the world of sports more closely.

Producer Risdi A. Sulaeman revealed that this film carries a deep message about communication in the family.

"This film is a story for children and parents. How to communicate differently between parents to children, and how children learn to obey. It's about understanding and loving each other, that life is about having the determination to achieve dreams," said Risdi as quoted by VOI from a media release, Wednesday, December 31.

In line with Risdi, Irma Risma as Executive Producer added that HUBAE BOY is a special gift for the younger generation.

"This film is dedicated to young people who have been honest and sportive in their efforts to achieve their dreams," he concluded.
