Cungkup Baru Batutulis Inscription Inaugurated, Fadli Zon Promotes the Revitalization of Sunda History
BOGOR - The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Fadli Zon inaugurated the Batutulis Inscription monument in Batutulis, Bogor City, Wednesday, December 31. This inauguration marks the strengthening of the revitalization of national cultural heritage sites while maintaining the authenticity and character of the area.
Fadli Zon emphasized that West Java, especially Bogor, has a strong historical and cultural unity. Revitalization, he said, does not stop at the physical, but brings to life the cultural narrative so that it is understood by the public. He cited the relocation of the Muara Cianten Inscription weighing almost 20 tons which was only carried out after decades because it was in the middle of the river.
According to Fadli, museums and cultural heritage sites are showcases of civilization. Without a representative showcase, the nation's identity is difficult to display to the world. Therefore, he encourages the acceleration of thematic museums of the Nusantara kingdom, including the Pajajaran Kingdom, so that historical literacy can come back to life. The central, provincial, and regional governments are asked to collaborate to make this area a cultural and educational center or cultural enclave.
Director General of Cultural and Traditional Protection, Restu Gunawan, appreciated the work of the West Java Regional Cultural Preservation Center IX and the Bogor City Government in the progressive arrangement of the Batutulis area.
The Batutulis inscription is an andesite monolith inscribed with nine lines of Javanese Kuna and Sunda Kuna letters. The content tells the story of Sri Baduga Maharaja, the king of Pakuan Pajajaran.
Fadli hopes that the revitalization of Batutulis will be a driver of local creative economy - from cultural tourism to MSMEs - while keeping the Sunda historical heritage alive.
