Prabowo Listen Directly to the Needs of Refugees in South Tapanuli
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto directly listened to the requests and needs of refugees and the aspirations of workers who helped the reconstruction and rehabilitation stages in disaster-affected areas, South Tapanuli, North Sumatra.
The dialogue between the President and the refugees and workers who built the bridge and operated heavy equipment took place after President Prabowo checked the condition of the bailey bridgeSungai Garoga, Batang Toru, South Tapanuli, which was just installed a few days ago.
"Today, the President went to South Tapanuli Regency, to Batang Toru. Here, there is one village that is very affected," said Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 31.
Prasetyo, who also accompanied President Prabowo, said one of the President's main agendas in Batang Toru was to check the installation of the bailey bridge, which is currently a replacement for the bridge that was damaged and cut off due to flash floods in the Garoga River.
"So that (the bridge) can immediately function to accelerate recovery, including (to immediately enter) the reconstruction phase," said Pras, Prasetyo's popular nickname.
After checking the condition of the bridge by crossing it on foot, President Prabowo continued to see the condition of the river flow, as well as houses around the bridge that were severely damaged. The President instructed his staff to immediately build housing for refugees so that they can move from evacuation tents to habitable places.
"Once again, this proves the commitment of the President to continue to be present to ensure that disaster management in the three provinces can run as well as possible," said Pras.
The Bailey Bridge of the Garoga River in Batang Toru currently has reconnected South Tapanuli with a number of sub-districts in Central Tapanuli which were cut off due to flash floods and landslides last month (25/11). The bridge was built by the Combat Zeni Detachment (Yonzipur) of the Indonesian Army in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works, and the red plate construction company Nindya Karya.
The bridge is 44 meters long, and the bridge is designed to be able to withstand loads of up to 25 tons.
