FBI Seizes Dozens of MotoGP Motorcycles Belonging to a Drug Kingpin

Los Angeles - The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Los Angeles seized a number of MotoGP motorcycles which were the collection of drug lord, Ryan Wedding - a former Canadian snowboarder aged 44.

Wedding is on the FBI's 10 most wanted list and is currently believed to be in Mexico. He was charged with a number of drug offenses in 2024 and is still at large.

The United States government is offering a large reward of 15 million US dollars or the equivalent of Rp. 250 billion for information that can lead to his arrest.

Wedding competed at the 2002 Winter Olympics. After retiring from the athlete, he turned into a drug lord so he had to serve a prison sentence in 2009 after being found guilty of distributing cocaine.

He was then released at the end of 2010, but instead founded a drug trafficking empire. He is suspected of being responsible for the regular shipment of hundreds of kilograms of cocaine to Canada and several US states.

The FBI then released photos on Monday, December 29, 2025, which showed a collection of expensive motorcycles and MotoGP that Wedding is suspected of owning. The collection is worth 40 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 667 billion.

"This month, Mexican authorities executed several search warrants and seized a large number of motorcycles with an estimated value of around 40 million US dollars believed to belong to Ryan James Wedding, one of the FBI's top 10 fugitives," the FBI wrote in a statement.

The collection includes the Ducati GP18 brought by Jorge Lorenzo to win three MotoGP victories in 2018 as well as Andrea Dovizioso's 2019 Desmosedici.

Valentino Rossi's Ducati, from two difficult years in 2011 and 2012, is also part of this collection. In addition, there is also a Moto2 motorcycle owned by Marc Marquez from the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

There are also several Honda 500cc Grand Prix motorcycles as well as several Kawasaki Superbikes. However, it is not clear what will happen to the motorcycles after they are seized.
