Several Civilians Injured as Russia-Ukraine Attack Each Other

JAKARTA - The mutual attacks between Russia and Ukraine have caused a number of civilians on both sides to be injured, including children.

Six people were wounded in a Russian attack on Odessa, including three children, the city administration in Ukraine said on Wednesday.

"Drones attacked residential, logistics, and energy infrastructure in our region," said the head of the Odesa regional military administration Oleg Kiper on Telegram, as reported by Al Arabiya from AFP (31/12).

Two children aged eight and 14 were injured in the attack, as well as a seven-month-old baby, said Sergiy Lysak, the head of the city's military administration, in a separate Telegram post.

A 42-year-old man was also injured and in a "serious condition," he added.

In his latest update on Wednesday morning, he said the total number of victims was six.

He added that housing, logistics and energy infrastructure were targeted. Some of Odesa lost heating and water supplies.

Elsewhere, Russian drones wounded two men in the Dnipropetrovsk region, military administration chief Vladyslav Gaivanenko said on Telegram.

Meanwhile in Russia, two people were injured in a drone attack in Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai region, said city leader Sergei Boiko in a Telegram post.

The attack damaged the port's docks and equipment at the oil refinery as well as residents' homes.

"The attack of ammunition caused three people to be injured in the Belgorod region," the local governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram.

The attack came after Ukraine denied launching a drone attack on one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's residences, accusing Moscow of spreading lies to manipulate talks on ending the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has called Russia's claims "a blatant lie," said he would meet with Kyiv's allies on January 6 in France in an effort to renew peace efforts.

On the other hand, the Kremlin said on Tuesday it considered the alleged drone attack on Putin's remote residence in the Novgorod region a "terrorist act" and "a personal attack on President Putin."

However, it said it could not provide proof of its claim because all the drones "had been shot down."
