Mercedes-Benz C-Class Electric Caught Testing, Ready to Launch 2026

JAKARTA - Ahead of its official launch next year, the pure electric version of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class was caught on camera being tested. Visually it is still completely covered in camouflage.

Quoting from the Autohome website, Wednesday, December 31, this new car is expected to adopt a new family design style, consistent with the new GLC full electric version, and built on the MB.EA electric platform.

The car is still covered in thick camouflage but in terms of overall style, it's very similar to the spy photos of the new full-electric version of the GLC. The new full-electric version of the GLC has been introduced at the Munich Motor Show, and the large, pixelated, illuminated grille is very attractive.

It is hoped that this grille design will also be used on the new full electric version of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, of course, it is also very interesting to look forward to.

Both the latest Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV and the latest GLC EV will be built on the MB.EA electric platform, so it is expected to have many similarities in interior design and drive systems.

For reference, the latest GLC EV has a 39.1-inch MBUX super screen without a connection and is powered by the eATS 2.0 electric drive system, which includes a radial motor and a two-speed transmission. The single motor version produces a maximum power of 272 hp, while the dual motor version produces 489 hp.

Two years ago, German premium automaker Mercedes-Benz had given the green light that the C-Class model would be available as an electric vehicle (EV) in 2026.

"We have to realize that the speed of transition, it's almost impossible to estimate how long it will take," Kallenius said, quoted by Autocar.
