Musician to Bring Up a Song with a Theme of Rising Spirit after the Disaster at the New Year's Eve Celebration at HI Roundabout

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) is preparing a series of New Year celebrations in 2026 with a different approach. In the midst of disasters that have hit Sumatra and a number of other regions in Indonesia, the New Year's celebration in Jakarta this year is claimed to prioritize simplicity and social empathy.

Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) is the main point for the New Year's Eve celebration. A number of musicians are scheduled to perform, including d'Masiv, Marion Jola, Feel Koplo, Andmesh, and Gondal Gandul Band. The selection of songs is not only for entertainment, but also carries a message of togetherness and a spirit of revival.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Office, Budi Awaluddin, said the concept was reflected in the songs that would be performed by musicians on the HI roundabout stage.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government wants to ensure that public celebrations do not stop at entertainment, but also become a means of real social solidarity action. This is also reflected in the selection of songs played at HI Roundabout, such as 'Don't Give Up' from d'Masiv which gives courage and hope," said Budi in his statement, Wednesday, December 31.

Unlike previous years, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government ensured that it would not hold a fireworks festival on New Year's Eve. The decision was taken as a form of empathy for victims of disasters in various regions.

In addition, each series of events is said to be preceded by a joint prayer and reflection at all points of celebration. This step is intended as a collective reflection in welcoming the new year.

As a substitute for fireworks, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared a drone-based video mapping show with a theme of concern for Sumatra and other disaster-affected areas.

"We invite the public to prioritize simplicity in this New Year's celebration. We can replace the fireworks festival with other positive activities, such as donating," he said.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also collaborates with BAZNAS BAZIS DKI Jakarta and Bank Jakarta to integrate humanitarian donation mechanisms in all New Year's Eve activities. Donations are intended for disaster-affected areas, not only in Sumatra, but also in Central Java, West Java, and other areas.

"Donations are made through the provision of QRIS at event points and digital channels supported by a real-time monitoring system," he explained.

Overall, there are eight main celebration points held by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, ranging from Lapangan Banteng Park, M.H. Thamrin area, Sarinah, HI Roundabout, Dukuh Atas, Semanggi area, SCBD, to FX Sudirman.

The 2026 New Year's Eve celebration was also held at the city and tourist area levels, such as the Prasasti Museum, Mal Artha Gading, the mayor's office in five administrative areas, the Jakarta International Stadium, Untung Jawa Island, Ancol, Old Town, M Bloc Space, Setu Babakan, Mal Central Park, to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government appeals to the public who celebrate New Year's Eve in public spaces to maintain their own safety, safety, and environmental cleanliness.

"This momentum can also be used to strengthen national unity when gathering with friends or family. If you celebrate outside the house, keep your safety, safety, and cleanliness. On behalf of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, we wish you a happy New Year 2026," concluded Budi.
