JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to investigate the alleged extortion case carried out by three prosecutors of the North Hulu Sungai (HSU) District Attorney's Office, South Kalimantan, by examining 15 witnesses on December 29-30.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the examination was focused on parties in the environment of the HSU Prosecutor's Office to uncover the chronology of the alleged extortion crime committed by the suspects.

"The examination of parties in the environment of the HSU District Attorney's Office, investigators are investigating the chronology of the alleged extortion carried out by the suspects," Budi said in a written statement in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, December 31.

In addition, investigators also investigated the testimony of witnesses regarding the process and mechanism of budget cuts that occurred internally in the North Hulu Sungai District Attorney's Office.

"The budget cuts were carried out by the suspect through the treasurer, namely by liquidating the budget without a travel order (SPPD)," said Budi.

This case began with a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) carried out by the KPK in Hulu Sungai Utara Regency, South Kalimantan, on December 18, 2025. The OTT was the 11th carried out by the KPK throughout 2025.

A day later, on December 19, 2025, the KPK announced that it had secured six people in the OTT, including the Head of the North Hulu Sungai District Court, Albertinus Parlinggoman Napitupulu, and the Head of the Intelligence Section of the North Hulu Sungai District Court, Asis Budianto.

On the same occasion, the KPK also said it had seized hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash allegedly related to the extortion practice.

Then, on December 20, 2025, the KPK named three people as suspects, namely Albertinus Parlinggoman Napitupulu (APN), Asis Budianto (ASB), and Tri Taruna Fariadi (TAR) who served as Head of the State Civil and Administrative Section of the North Hulu Sungai District Court.

However, at the time of the determination of the suspects, the KPK only detained Albertinus and Asis. Meanwhile, Tri Taruna has not been detained because he is still on the run.

On December 22, 2025, the Attorney General's Office handed over Tri Taruna to the KPK. The anti-corruption agency then detained the person concerned for an initial detention period of 20 days.

The KPK emphasized that the investigation process in the alleged extortion case in the North Hulu Sungai District Court in the 2025-2026 fiscal year is still ongoing.
