Raja Ampat Regent Called by Police, Alleged Abuse Case Still Being Investigated
SORONG - The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Southwest Papua Police continues to investigate two cases of alleged harassment involving the name of the Regional Secretary (Sekda) and the Assistant I of the Raja Ampat Regency Government.
The Director of Criminal Investigation of the West Papua Police, Kombes Junov Siregar, said that so far investigators have examined around seven to eight witnesses and will still conduct further examinations.
"There are many, about seven to eight people we have examined and we will examine them again," said Junov in Sorong, Antara, Wednesday, December 31.
In one of the cases, investigators have summoned the Raja Ampat Regent with the initials YS. However, the person concerned has only fulfilled the invitation for clarification and has not been able to undergo further examination due to health conditions.
"Yesterday we called YS for an invitation to clarify. He came, but when he was about to be examined further, the person concerned was in a state of illness, so we gave him a grace period," he explained.
Meanwhile, in a separate case involving FW as the Assistant I of the Raja Ampat Regency Government, investigators have examined the person in question with the status as a witness.
"For the FW case, Assistant I, the same thing, so far we have conducted an examination of the person concerned as a witness," said Junov.
However, Junov admitted that during the investigation there were parties who still denied the allegations. However, he emphasized that investigators still worked professionally and would not stop the legal process.
"So far, there are still those who deny it, but we will not give up. We will prove everything through the legal process," he said.
He added that the handling of the two cases of alleged harassment was carried out with guidance from the evidence and applicable legal provisions.
