Empathy to the People Affected by the Sumatra Disaster, Bantul Regent Wanti-wanti Don't Celebrate New Year's Fireworks

Bantul - Regent of Bantul Abdul Halim Muslih has issued a circular about an appeal for the people in the area not to hold fireworks or firecracker parties to celebrate New Year's Eve.

"The appeal to all people is that during the New Year's celebration in 2026, do not make vehicle convoys, excessive use of firecrackers or fireworks," said Regent Halim in his statement in Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

The circular was issued and delivered to the head of the regional apparatus, camat, lurah, and the community, in Bantul in order to maintain peace, order, and conducive conditions in the Bantul Regency area.

In addition, he said, to cultivate empathy for people who are experiencing natural disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, as well as other regions.

"The public is also asked not to carry out other activities that can endanger themselves and others, and to maintain the environment in their respective areas," he said.

Therefore, he continued, the community in celebrating the New Year's Eve 206 should do it with positive activities in a simple and not excessive manner.

"And do not carry out celebratory activities that have the potential to cause disturbances to public order and safety," he said.

Meanwhile, in carrying out security for the New Year's Eve celebration in Bantul, his party also coordinated with the Satpol PP and the Bantul Police to take steps to anticipate that the New Year's celebration would be safe and conducive.
