Sudirman-Thamrin Access Closed at New Year's Eve, Residents Urged to Take Public Transportation

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya appeals to the public who want to participate in the Car Free Night (CFN) in the Sudirman-Thamrin area on New Year's Eve to use public transportation. The road will be closed from 18.00 to 02.00 WIB.

Director of Traffic of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Komarudin appealed to the public to use public transportation to go to the celebration location.

"Public access to Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin itself, considering that at 18.00 the road has been closed, the public can use the MRT public transportation. This is until 18.00 or after 18.00 to Sudirman," said Komarudin Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

Komarudin explained that a number of crowded points that could be filled with residents, ranging from Lapangan Banteng, Monas (video mapping), Sarinah, HI Circle, Dukuh Atas, Semanggi (around Atma Jaya), SCBD, to FX Sudirman.

Meanwhile, outside the Sudirman-Thamrin area, congestion is also expected to occur in Ancol, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Central Park, and Old Town.

"This is a distribution of density points that tomorrow night will be filled by the community," he explained.

Regarding parking, Komarudin said that a number of parking bags had been prepared, including GBK, IRTI Monas, and other locations that are commonly used during Car Free Day.

The police also prepared an evacuation route. Only certain vehicles are allowed to enter the CFN lane.

"Only friends from the medical team, ambulances, Damkar cars, this is what can be on the track. The rest of course we have to limit," he concluded.
