President Presents 2026 World Cup Show for People
JAKARTA - The Public Broadcasting Institution of the Republic of Indonesia (LPP TVRI) officially holds the broadcast rights for the 2026 World Cup.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the GPO lobby of TVRI LPP, Monday, December 29, 2025, attended by TVRI LPP President Director Iman Brotoseno accompanied by TVRI World Cup Broadcast Chief Editor Usman Kansong.
Iman Brotoseno, said that TVRI was designated as the holder of the broadcasting rights for Indonesia which will broadcast all the 2026 World Cup matches through the TVRI Sport and TVRI National channels.
All matches will be broadcast terrestrially or Free To Air (FTA) and back to back or simultaneous from 23.00 WIB to 11.00 WIB from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
"The process to obtain the rights to broadcast the 2026 World Cup by TVRI is certainly not easy and through a long phase. It started with the great concern of President Prabowo Subianto for national football, even he hopes that one day, the national team can compete in the World Cup," said Imam.
Iman said, President Prabowo also understands the love of the Indonesian people for football, so he gave directions that big moments like the World Cup can be enjoyed by all people without exception, as a form of entertainment that unites and awakens the spirit of the nation.
This screening is a manifestation of a joint commitment to presenting an inclusive, easily accessible, and reaching all levels of society international standard sports broadcast.
"The 2026 World Cup through TVRI is presented to all Indonesian people with inclusive access, in accordance with the direction and support of the President. The process of obtaining broadcasting rights is also supported by President Prabowo who continues to supervise so that the aspiration of the public to watch the World Cup is realized, with tireless efforts to help coordinate cross-ministry sustainability, including to the Ministry of Finance.
"This support is an important part of ensuring that this internationally standard sports broadcast can be widely accessible and reach all levels of society," said Iman.
TVRI has the rights to broadcast the 2026 World Cup in its entirety and its derivatives. TVRI will broadcast a total of 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup from the group stage to the final match, which lasts for 39 days, both Live, Live Delay and re-run during the event.
"People can access the World Cup broadcast, through FTA or terrestrial platforms using a regular antenna. However, for other platforms or OTT, it will depend on the policies of third-party operators," said Iman.
The government will also initiate a joint viewing activity (nobar) in various locations, as an expansion of public entertainment access in cooperation with Indonesian MSMEs.
This initiative is expected to encourage local economic circulation, expand public entertainment access, and make the World Cup momentum a means of disseminating government programs that are educational and informative.
On this occasion, the Imam also expressed his deep condolences to the victims of the disaster.
The 2026 World Cup is expected to be a positive momentum that brings together the national community, especially in the midst of the ongoing recovery process for people affected by natural disasters.
