Damage, Samsung Stops Updates for Galaxy Watch 4
JAKARTA – Samsung has stopped launching the One UI 8 Watch firmware based on Wear OS 6 for the Galaxy Watch 4 series. This step was taken after many reports of damage.
Launching from 9to5google, the most reported complaints are drastic battery life reductions. Some units are reported to only last for 12 hours, half the duration offered previously.
In addition to battery problems, the always-on display feature is rumored to no longer work on the device. This makes it difficult for users to see time information quickly.
The most fatal disruption occurred on the main sensor system which caused the health tracking feature to be unusable. The watch even failed to detect the wrist position so that the device would continue to be locked.
This condition makes important features such as Google Wallet and basic notifications inaccessible to users. Without the sensor being active, some features on this watch become useless in daily activities.
Technical irregularities were also found in the Galaxy Watch 4 after being updated. The sensor is known to only work if the position of the watch is turned towards the palm of the hand.
This problem is suspected to be related to the incompatibility between the new software and the old hardware module which is four years old. Now, reports on various problems have subsided.
Most likely, this is based on the distribution of software that Samsung has discontinued. It is not yet known what Samsung will do next to address all of these problems.
