Minister of Communication and Information Ensure Communication Services Remain Safe during the 2026 Christmas Holiday
JAKARTA - Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid has assigned the Radio Frequency Spectrum Monitoring Center (Balmon SFR) in various regions to be on standby during the 2026 New Year's holiday period.
Monitoring this frequency is expected to help maintain the quality of communication services on travel routes, tourist areas, and crowded public activity points during the year-end holidays.
"Even though this is a holiday, friends continue to work to support and provide services for the community," Meutya said in an official broadcast on Tuesday, December 30.
In fact, in areas that face disasters such as Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and South Kalimantan, Balmon also carried out additional monitoring.
This effort helps residents stay connected to access information and communicate in emergency conditions.
"People can go on vacation while staying connected, so they can travel and vacation with their families calmly and comfortably," said Meutya.
The results of the monitoring will be evaluated to improve the readiness of communication services during the next major holiday period so that the benefits continue to be felt by the public.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communication and Information has predicted a 30 percent increase in traffic on telecommunications networks during the 2025 Christmas and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holidays, compared to normal days.
To anticipate this surge, mobile operators have also carried out optimization at a number of Points of Interest (POI) in crowded and holiday centers during this period.
Komdigi also formed a joint post task force at 255 points to monitor the quality of telecommunications services and monitor the radio frequency spectrum at 35 UPT Radio Frequency Spectrum Monitoring Centers which will be implemented from December 19 to January 4, 2026.
