Alex Bent Talks Openly After Deciding to Leave Trivium
Alex Bent finally spoke openly about his decision to leave his position as Trivium drummer.
As is known, the 32-year-old drummer left the US giant metal band last October, after eight years with Matt Heafy et al.
Bent admitted that joining Trivium was an honor. Even though he is no longer part of the band, he still appreciates everyone he met over the past eight years.
"But the people I met ended up being lifelong friends. So, I appreciate every fan who came to the show, who even to this day ordered lessons with me or wanted a drum stick signature or wanted to do (an interview) like this," Bent said, in a recent interview with Metal Drummers United.
Although he is no longer beating drums for Trivium, Bent insists his desire to hit the drum pedals on stage will never die. He dismissed public perceptions that he wanted to withdraw from the music industry or slow down his career.
On the other hand, Bent stated that he is currently free agent status and ready to accept new job offers, both for studio recording sessions, world tours, and drum clinics.
"I never planned to quit. I have no backup plan. That's how I've been since high school," he said.
Regarding his future, Bent admitted that he did not have a rigid plan, but he felt much hungrier and more excited than when he was 22 years old.
He wants to continue working for his family and assure fans that he is not going anywhere.
"I'm happy with my position now, but "I want to get back on tour. So, I think a lot of people assume that I'm trying to reduce my activity or something like that, and that's not true at all. I feel like I've just started," he concluded.
