Police Arrest Youth for Stealing School Bags and Mobile Phones at Soetta Airport
Tangerang - The Soekarno-Hatta Airport City Police (Polresta), Polda Metro Jaya, arrested an offender who stole a bag and a mobile phone belonging to an elementary school student in the North Perimeter Road area of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang.
The perpetrator with the initials HN (18) was arrested after committing a robbery in the middle of a planned brawl between groups of students.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police, Kompol Yandri Mono, said the victim of the robbery was an elementary school student with the initials RAF who was crossing the scene.
"The victim passed by the location and found a number of his friends who were suspected of fighting," said Yandri in Tangerang, Antara, Tuesday, December 30.
He explained that RAF was heading to his grandmother's house in the Rawa Bokor area by riding a motorcycle with his schoolmate with the initials AZK.
"The victim refused to be invited to fight. However, because the number was outnumbered, the victim and his friends immediately fled," he said.
In the attempt to escape, the victim was actually ambushed by a number of rioters from another school group who used motorbikes.
"One of the perpetrators kicked the victim until he fell. After that, the victim was threatened with a sharp weapon of the type celurit," said Yandri.
In a threatening condition, the perpetrator then took RAF's bag containing one unit of a black Oppo A5S mobile phone, as well as AZK's bag.
As a result of the incident, the victim suffered material losses of around IDR 2 million. The victim's parents then reported the incident to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police.
"We followed up on the report until the perpetrators were arrested," said Yandri.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Crime Investigation Unit IV of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police, Iptu Agung Pujianto, said that the perpetrator HN admitted that he had intended to have the victim's bag from the beginning.
"The perpetrator admitted that the bag was planned to be sold, while the victim's mobile phone wanted to be used by himself," said Agung.
For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) concerning theft with violence with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
