Pramono Inaugurates Two New JPOs, Made in Local Cultural Atmosphere

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated two Pedestrian Crossing Bridges (JPO) in Pesanggrahan, West Jakarta, and Pangkalan Jati, East Jakarta. The construction of the two JPOs uses the DKI Jakarta Budget for the 2025 Fiscal Year.

In the inauguration, Pramono said that the construction of JPO was not only intended to support the mobility of residents, but was also designed with a visual approach that refers to the local cultural identity.

"We want to build infrastructure that is not only functional, but also has artistic value and reflects the local wisdom of the surrounding community," said Pramono at the JPO Pesanggrahan, West Jakarta, Tuesday, December 30.

The construction of the second JPO will last seven months, from May to December 2025. The process is carried out gradually by paying attention to aspects of user safety, comfort, and construction quality.

The JPO Pesanggrahan has a length of 31.1 meters. Its design takes inspiration from the logo of the West Jakarta Administration City, namely the serit betta fish and dendrobium orchid. These elements are embodied in the form of a facade resembling fish fins, serit betta fish ornaments, and dendrobium orchid motifs on the lift building cover.

"This design is also a symbol of the dynamic and ever-evolving character of West Jakarta residents," said Pramono.

Meanwhile, the JPO in the Pangkalan Jati area, Cipinang Melayu Village, East Jakarta, stretches along 27.8 meters. This JPO carries the theme of the betel nut leaf which refers to the origin of the name Cipinang.

According to Pramono, the motif of the betel nut was chosen as a symbol of firmness, life, and growth, which represents the character of the people of Cipinang Melayu.

Apart from artistic design, both JPOs are equipped with elevators for people with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women, and users with toddlers. Other supporting facilities provided include decorative lighting and surveillance cameras (CCTV) to increase security.

"We want people to get a safe crossing facility and a proud public space, which reflects Jakarta as a global city, but still rooted in culture. Hopefully, people will take care of it, because this is also for the disabled, the elderly, and there is an elevator, so we really hope we will take care of it together," explained Pramono.

In addition to the two JPOs inaugurated today, until November 2025 the DKI Jakarta Road Construction Service has also completed the maintenance and revitalization of eight JPOs in a number of locations, namely:
