7 Elderly and 3 Toddlers Trapped in Banjar Flood in South Kalimantan Evacuated by Police
Banjar Police in South Kalimantan (Kalsel) evacuated elderly and toddlers at flood-affected locations in the East Martapura District on Monday, December 29 evening.
"We evacuate to his family's house or a safer place," said Banjar Police Chief AKBP Dr Fadli in Martapura, Monday, quoted by Antara.
Fadli said that as of tonight, there were 27 people evacuated, including seven elderly people and three toddlers.
The two areas most affected by the flood in the East Martapura District, namely in Dalam Pagar Village and Dalam Pagar Ulu Village.
The water level has reached about 60 centimeters or close to the waist of an adult.
Therefore, the Banjar Police deployed the Samapta SAR team together with local police personnel to carry out patrols at the flood-affected location to evacuate residents if necessary.
For residents who are still staying in their homes, Fadli urged them to be careful and be willing to be evacuated if the water level continues to rise.
It is known that the flood in Banjar Regency is currently the impact of the Martapura River overflowing due to high rainfall in recent days.
