Megalitik Lore Lindu Site Preserves Traces of Ancient Nusantara Civilization
Poso - "The age of archaeological remains in this area reaches more than 4,000 years, even in some places it is estimated to be up to 8,000 years," said the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Fadli Zon when reviewing the Lore Lindu Megalithic Site in Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi, Monday, December 29.
Minister of Religion Fadli Zon reviewed a number of key points of the Lore Lindu megalithic area, including the Tadulako, Pokekea, and Tambi Megalithic Sites. This area contains various archaeological remains that record settlement activities, burials, and worship practices of prehistoric communities.
Fadli Zon emphasized that the megalithic area in Central Sulawesi is an important part of the long history of the Nusantara civilization. According to him, the findings in Lore Lindu show a level of civilization that is advanced for its time and has strategic value for strengthening the cultural identity of the nation.
The Pokekea Megalithic Site, which has been designated as a National Heritage Site, is one of the focus of the visit. In this area of the reed field, arca, kalamba and its lid, dolmen, perforated stone, lumpang, tray, umpak, pottery fragments, and even jars were found.
"This wealth must be protected and managed sustainably. It can be used as a cultural and historical tourism, but the principle of preservation must not be ignored," said Fadli Zon.
He also highlighted the threat of vandalism as well as the impact of weather and climate change which can accelerate the weathering of megalithic rock structures. Therefore, promotion and supervision are considered important so that this nationally ranked site is increasingly known and maintained.
In the future, the Ministry of Culture encourages further research to reveal more deeply the life of prehistoric people in the Lore Lindu area. The government hopes that megalithic sites in Central Sulawesi will not only be sustainable, but also make a real contribution to knowledge, public education, and strengthening the position of the Nusantara civilization at the global level.
