Russia Claims Ukraine Attacked Putin's Residence with 91 Long-Range Drones

JAKARTA - Senior Russian officials on Monday said Ukraine launched an attack on President Vladimir Putin's official residence with a long-range drone.

"The Kyiv regime carried out a terrorist attack using a large-scale long-range drone against the residence of the Russian President in the Novgorod Region," Kremlin Aide Yuri Ushakov said in a press statement, as reported by TASS (30/12).

The attack on the Russian leader's state residence came after talks between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Mar-a-Lago (Florida, Sunday), the presidential aide said.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that Russia would review its position in talks with Russia, following the attack.

Russia said Ukraine attacked the presidential residence in Novgorod region with 91 long-range drones, all of which were destroyed by Russian air defenses.

"No one was injured and there was no damage," Lavrov said, according to Al Arabiya quoting Reuters.

Foreign Minister Lavrov said targets had been chosen for the retaliatory attack by the Russian armed forces. "Such reckless actions will not be left unpunished," he said, adding that the attack was tantamount to "state terrorism."

It is not clear whether President Putin is at the Dolgiye Borody residence, which has previously been used by a number of state leaders, such as Josef Stalin, Nikita Khrushchev to Boris Yeltsin.

Separately, President Zelensky said the allegations were lies, adding that Moscow was preparing an attack on government buildings in Kyiv. President Zelensky also said Russia's claims were an attempt to undermine peace talks.
