Musuh Dalam Selimut: Drama Perselingkuhan yang Penuh Plot Twist

JAKARTA - Musuh Dalam Selimut directed by Hadrah Daeng Ratu is a drama offering at the beginning of the year that will mess up the feelings of Indonesian cinema lovers through the complex relationship brought by Yasmin Napper, Megan Domani, and Arbani Yasiz.

This film invites the audience to enter the life of Gadis (Yasmin Napper), a woman who feels everything is fine, whether it's the household, hopes, and routines that run normally. That warmth is even more complete when she is pregnant with her first child with Andika (Arbani Yasiz).

At the same time, Suzy (Megan Domani), a neighbor who slowly emerged as a friend who was quick to help, attentive, and always there in moments that should calm. But the closeness that was originally warm, slowly shifted into something strange.

Andika was also dragged into a closeness that was increasingly difficult to explain, until the Girl's sympathy slowly turned to doubt, then became suspicious, until she was suffocated by a hanging question.

Just a love triangle or affair feels too shallow to drain emotions. Hadrah said, this film wants to raise a deeper issue - complete with various surprises and plot twists that will make the audience feel that it is not enough to watch once.

"In my opinion, we often watch or are served with linear dramas, and here I try to make a film that can make the audience also be involved in stringing the story in their own minds," said Hadrah at a press conference before the Musuh Dalam Selimut gala premiere in Kuningan, South Jakarta, Monday, December 29.

"This film is not just about a love triangle or an affair, but it's about people and their mental health - how someone's background can get to the point of being able to hurt others," added Hadrah.

New Challenges for Yasmin Napper, Megan Domani, and Arbani Yasiz

The complexity in the film "Enemy in the Blanket" is also reflected in how the three main actors bring their respective characters - which are recognized as presenting their own challenges that are not easy.

Yasmin Napper specifically credits Hadrah for the direction. Even though he enjoyed the opportunity to explore his acting, he admitted that the director's help helped him find the character of Gadis.

"I really like stories that may not be biopics, so I can imagine and implement what the character is like. So, I can explore myself, and then with the director, with the other cast - where the character of the Girl wants to be taken," said Yasmin.

"If you look at the ending scene, the girl who was initially soft and easy to bring people into her life, she became a real trust issue. That's why in the ending scene, she exploded, it was like out of this world," he continued.

Meanwhile, Megan Domani, said her role this time was an effort to act outside her comfort zone. He explained, Suzy as a character full of trauma from the past, also lacks affection.

"Suzy's character is very complex, there are many layers and it's far from my comfort zone. I've never been able to play a character like Suzy before," said Megan.

"I never justified what Suzy did, it's just that she had a very strong reason for it," he added. "And here, Suzy is mentally unhealthy, she just wants to give the best for herself and she will do anything to get it."

On the other hand, Arbani, who has acted with Yasmin and Megan, also played under Hadrah's direction, admitted that he was happy to act outside his comfort zone, as well as burdened with maintaining Andika's emotional dynamics - given the plot twist presented.

"First he was invited to meet with Bu Hadrah, then he heard the story of Enemy in the Blanket, I was immediately interested, because this is full of challenges, and the story is also very fresh. I can't guess, why it happened like that, "said Arbani." I also want to get out of my comfort zone, because the last time I usually (played) as a green flag guy. "

What makes Enemy Within the Blanket even more interesting is also present from small details, ranging from pauses in conversations, glances, to gestures presented by the characters.

Hadrah explained that from the beginning he deliberately put the foundation of the characters and the reasons for their actions so that the audience would be "caught" in the human concern.

"My main point when directing Enemy in the Blanket was to build a strong character background. The storytelling of each character is important, so that the audience understands the reasons behind their every action," said Hadrah.

"I don't want this affair story to just be a normal love triangle, but also tell the traumas that the characters face in living their lives after going through a lot of wounds," he said.

For information, Enemy in the Blanket produced by Narasi Semesta - in collaboration with Unlimited Production, Legacy Pictures, A&Z, and Subtube - will premiere in theaters on January 8, 2026.
