Jasa Marga Records 200,311 Vehicles Returning to Jabotabek, Contraflow Begins to be Implemented
JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk (JSMR) reported a surge in the reverse flow of vehicles towards the Jabotabek area during the H+3 period of the 2025 Christmas celebration. The Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) noted that as many as 200,311 vehicles had returned to Jakarta and its surroundings until Monday morning, December 29, 2025.
Jasa Marga President Director Rivan Achmad Purwantono stated that the realization of the traffic volume increased by 11.81 percent compared to normal conditions which are usually in the range of 179,147 vehicles.
"This increase is in line with Jasa Marga's prediction that there will be an increase in vehicles to the Jabotabek area after the Christmas 2025 celebration," said Rivan in an official statement, Monday, December 29.
In order to reduce density, Jasa Marga through its subsidiary, PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT), has imposed contraflow traffic engineering on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road at the discretion of the police.
Cumulatively, this reverse flow comes from four Main Toll Gates (GT) with the following distribution:
1. East direction (Trans Java & Bandung): 108,553 vehicles (54.19 percent of total volume).
2. West direction (Merak): 46,566 vehicles (23.25 percent).
3. South direction (Puncak): 45.192 vehicles (22.56 percent).
Data shows the most significant spike occurred from the East corridor. The flow from GT Cikampek Utama (Trans Java) increased significantly by 46.16 percent above normal, while GT Kalihurip Utama (Bandung) jumped 18.71 percent.
Conversely, the flow from Puncak and Merak is still below the normal daily average, down 8.13 percent and 1.61 percent, respectively.
Throughout the period of H-7 to H+3 Christmas 2025, Jasa Marga recorded a total of 1.87 million vehicles had left Jabotabek. This figure grew 14.18 percent from the normal period.
The toll operator confirmed that it had alerted the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC) to monitor the movement in real-time. Road users are urged to ensure the adequacy of electronic money and fuel balances, given that the year-end holiday period will continue until the New Year 2026.
