Cristiano Ronaldo Reaffirms His Desire to Reach 1,000 Goals before Retirement

JAKARTA - Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has reiterated his desire to reach 1,000 goals during his career before ending his playing career.

The Al Nassr striker scored his 956th goal in his career when his team won 3-0 over Al Okhdood on Saturday, December 27, 2025, and holds the record for the most goals in international football with 141 goals in 223 matches for Portugal.

The 40-year-old still has two years left on his contract at Al Nassr and will lead Portugal at the 2026 World Cup. Once again, he insists that he has no intention of stopping there.

"It's hard to keep playing, but I'm motivated. My enthusiasm is high and I want to keep playing. My enthusiasm is high and I want to keep playing."

"It doesn't matter where I play, whether in the Middle East or Europe. I always enjoy playing football and I want to keep going."

"You know what my goal is. I want to win trophies and I want to reach the number (1,000 goals) that you all know. I will definitely reach that number, if I don't get injured," said Ronaldo after being named the Best Middle Eastern Player at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Sunday, December 28, 2025.

After scoring against Al Okhdood, Ronaldo reached 40 goals for the calendar year, the third consecutive year and for the 14th time in his career.

He has scored 12 goals in 10 Saudi Pro League (Saudi Pro League) matches so far this season, matching his personal record at Juventus. He will play the match when Al Nassr travels to Al Ettifaq on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, early morning WIB.
