Hold the 2026 World Cup broadcast rights, TVRI asked the DPR to improve: Don't make viewers disappointed

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission VII of the DPR Saleh Partaonan Daulay welcomed the appointment of TVRI as the official holder of the 2026 World Cup broadcast rights. He also challenged TVRI to prove its ability to present world-class broadcasts.

"At the beginning of this period, Commission VII indeed asked TVRI to improve. The broadcast should not be inferior to other TV stations. In fact, on a certain scale, TVRI must be better and superior," Saleh told reporters, Monday, December 29.

Saleh revealed that in one of the meetings that had been held, Commission VII encouraged TVRI to obtain the broadcasting rights for the 2026 World Cup. Although competitive, said Saleh, TVRI finally managed to convince FIFA to obtain the intended broadcasting rights.

"Everything related to broadcasting the world cup is being perfected by TVRI," he said.

However, Saleh reminded TVRI that the majority of Indonesian people are football lovers. Therefore, he emphasized that the presentation of the world cup broadcast must be really good.

Saleh emphasized that mistakes and shortcomings must be anticipated as early as possible. He also asked TVRI to listen to the suggestions and input of all parties.

"Yesterday we all wanted the national team to enter the World Cup. It's a shame, we haven't succeeded. So that the spirit remains imprinted, the World Cup broadcast must be arranged well and neatly," said Saleh.

"The audience should not be disappointed. The audience is the king. They deserve to be served with good and neat screenings," he said.

Even though Indonesia did not enter the 2026 World Cup, Saleh believes the Garuda National Team is able to make history in the following year.

"Even if it doesn't come in now, I'm sure that in the next world cup Indonesia will succeed. There is no word that is impossible. Especially in the world of football. Therefore, hope and hope must be maintained so that it will continue to burn throughout the time," concluded the PAN legislator for North Sumatra III.
