BNPB ensures that logistics for disasters are distributed within 2x24 hours maximum

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has ensured that the delivery of logistical assistance for people affected by floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra will be carried out as quickly as possible and reach them within a maximum of 2x24 hours.

"Our SOP (standard operating procedure) is that no goods come to stay more than 2x24 hours. Everything must be immediately distributed. So our distribution rate at each post is above 80 percent," said Head of the BNPB Data and Information Center, Abdul Muhari, in a press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Monday, December 29, reported by ANTARA.

Abdul emphasized that with such a scheme, assistance can immediately reach the people in need. For example, the Halim Perdanakusuma Post, East Jakarta, has distributed 97 percent of the assistance received. A total of 1,526 tons of assistance have been sent.

"In general, the logistics of the Halim Post alone in this one month has received 1,500 tons and delivered 1,526 tons with a distribution rate of 97 percent," he said.

Meanwhile, at the Iskandar Muda Post, the total assistance that has entered so far has reached 1,341 tons. A total of 1,000 tons have been distributed.

"For Iskandar Muda, it has entered 1,341 tons and has been distributed 1,000 tons, so the logistics distribution rate is 80.93 percent," he explained.

At other relief posts, the rate of distribution of logistics is above 80 percent. For example, the Silangit Post in North Sumatra has distributed 98.2 percent of the incoming aid.

"For North Sumatra, the Silangit Post, our distribution rate is 98.2 percent, and West Sumatra is 93.5 percent," he said.

Not only distribution of assistance, various efforts have been made by the government in handling disasters since the first day of the incident, ranging from evacuating victims to restoring various public services.

In addition to emergency response efforts, the government is also preparing for the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase to restore community life activities.
