James Cameron Will Reveal New Plans If Avatar: Fire and Ash Fails

JAKARTA - Director James Cameron admitted that he was ready to reveal his plans for the Avatar franchise if his latest film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, did not get satisfactory numbers.

The third film from the Avatar world was released this month, three years after its sequel The Way of Water which is a continuation of the 2009 film Avatar. Originally he planned to make the Avatar film up to the fifth part but it is different from his current statement.

"I don't know if the sequel crosses this point, but I hope so. But you know we prove the business every time we release it," said James Cameron, quoted by Entertainment Weekly.

Avatar: Fire and Ash opened its domestic debut with 88 million US dollars, slightly different from the initial projection of 100 million dollars.

"There are many backgrounds, stories, cultures, and information about the characters that have been created. I want to make something that tells it in detail," he said.

Cameron is open if the Avatar movie is not successful, then he can turn the Avatar 4 and 5 stories into a novel. Of course, this plan is still far from realization considering that the third Avatar movie seems to have benefited.

"I have no doubt that the film will be profitable. The question is, will it be profitable enough to do it again? If it ends here, okay," said James Cameron in a different broadcast.

Currently, the film Avatar: Fire and Ash has earned 345 million US dollars for global screenings.
