Accelerate Post-flood Recovery in Aceh Tamiang, WIKA-WEGE Build 80 Temporary Housing Units
JAKARTA - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) together with its subsidiary, PT Wijaya Karya Bangunan Gedung Tbk (WEGE) built 80 temporary housing units (Huntara) for residents affected by floods and landslides in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh Province.
The Huntara that was built is located on Jalan Banda Aceh-Medan, Kebun Tanjung Seumantoh, Karang Baru District, Aceh Tamiang.
The construction of Huntara is aimed at ensuring that affected residents have a safe and decent temporary residence during the recovery period.
WIKA President Director Agung Budi Waskito said that the construction of Huntara was carried out by applying a modular building system. This method was chosen to support the acceleration of construction which still prioritizes quality, efficiency and timeliness.
"Through the collaboration between WIKA and WEGE, we present a modular Huntara that is built quickly, safely and strongly, so that it can immediately be used by affected communities as a comfortable and decent place to live," said Agung Budi in a written statement, quoted Monday, December 29.
Agung Budi explained that Huntara was designed using a strong and durable light steel frame, with supporting materials such as cement boards, floor mullions, and zincalume roofs, to ensure the safety and comfort of residents.
Apart from residential units, WIKA and WEGE also prepare various supporting facilities, including a communal kitchen, washing area, prayer room, and adequate sanitation facilities, to meet the basic needs of residents.
According to Agung Budi, his party's involvement in the construction of Huntara is part of the Danantara program, BP BUMN and the Ministry of Public Works (PU) which focuses on meeting the basic needs of disaster-affected communities.
"Through the construction of this Huntara, we are not only supporting the provision of comfortable and decent housing and access to basic infrastructure, but also contributing to accelerating the recovery of the social life of the people of Aceh Tamiang after the disaster," he added.
