BNNP DKI Tightens New Year's Eve Surveillance, Random Urine Tests Held at Stations to Airports
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) has tightened its supervision of the circulation of narcotics ahead of the New Year's Eve 2026. This step is taken to anticipate the potential for drug parties at a number of crowded points.
Head of the DKI Jakarta BNNP, Brigjen Pol Awang Joko Rumitro, said his party placed personnel at various departure points, such as stations, airports, and terminals. In addition, the DKI BNNP also held random urine tests as an early prevention measure.
"Our personnel are on standby at departure points and conduct random urine tests as a preventive measure," Awang told the media at the BNNP DKI Jakarta Office, Central Jakarta, Monday, December 29, 2025.
Awang emphasized that all BNNP DKI Jakarta personnel, especially in the field of eradication, did not take leave during the New Year's Eve security. All personnel are on alert to conduct investigations and take action.
"If there are indications of abuse or illicit trafficking of narcotics, we will act decisively," he said.
In addition to supervision at the departure point, BNNP DKI Jakarta has also mapped a number of locations that are considered vulnerable to be used as a place for drug abuse. Enforcement will be carried out in a focused manner by involving the National Police, TNI, and local governments.
"If there are strong indications, we will act together with all related stakeholders," said Awang.
On the other hand, Awang admitted the limitations of the number of personnel in the security of the New Year's Eve. Currently, the total number of DKI Jakarta BNNP personnel, including daily casual employees (PHL), is around 82 people. Meanwhile, personnel in the eradication field are only around 30 people.
"With this limited personnel, we really need the support and cooperation of all parties, both the National Police, TNI, local government, and the community," he said.
He added that a similar condition also occurred at the level of the City BNN which on average only had around 30 personnel, including PHL. Therefore, the DKI Jakarta BNN has prioritized intensive monitoring and targeted enforcement in locations that have been mapped as vulnerable points.
"We monitor intensively. If we only rely on BNN, it is certainly not possible, so synergy is the key," he explained.
Awang hopes that the active role of all parties can suppress the potential for drug parties and drug abuse during the New Year's Eve celebrations in the DKI Jakarta region.
"Once again, with the limitations of existing personnel, we focus on monitoring and taking action if there are strong indications of drug abuse," he said.
