Meet the Need for Clean Water, the PU Ministry Builds 24 Borehole Points in Aceh Tamiang
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has started drilling raw water at 24 points in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province. As of Sunday, December 28, 2025 at 08.00 WIB, the construction of raw water boreholes has been carried out in three locations.
Three locations have entered the drilling phase, namely the Simpang Lhee Mosque in the Manyak Payed District, the Al Ikhlas Mosque in the Banda Mulia District and the Kuala Simpang District Office.
Then, four locations in the preparation phase of the work, namely in Matang Taupah Village, Bendahara District, Gempong Manahini District, Karang Batu, Bandar Kalifah Village, Tamiang Hulu District and Darul Mukhlisin Islamic Boarding School, Karang Baru District.
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that the availability of clean water is an urgent need that cannot be delayed. Therefore, he said, his party is drilling deep wells and shallow wells gradually to complete the facilities for bathing, washing and kakus (MCK).
"If there is no water, disease will surely come. After the road and bridge affairs began to improve, our next focus is on water. Clean water must be immediately available for all communities," said Dody, quoted from an official statement, Monday, December 29.
Overall, the PU Ministry is planning to build 24 raw water boreholes spread across 12 locations. The work is supported by five drilling units and one Koken drilling car which is currently in the process of being mobilized from Banda Aceh to Aceh Tamiang.
The distribution of the 24 drilling well construction locations includes Karang Baru, Kuala Simpang, Bendahara and Manyak Payed sub-districts, each with four locations.
Furthermore, Rantau, Sekerak and Kejuruan Muda sub-districts each have two points per sub-district. Next, there are two locations each in the Seruway, Bandar Pusaka, Tenggulun, Banda Mulia and Tamiang Hulu sub-districts.
The implementation of the construction of a raw water boreholes in Aceh Tamiang Regency is part of the program to provide clean water for disaster-affected communities implemented in an integrated manner by the Directorate General of Construction and the Directorate General of Water Resources of the Ministry of PU.
In line with the construction of raw water boreholes, said Dody, his party also deployed various supporting facilities and infrastructure for clean water services to meet the needs of clean water and sanitation for the people of Aceh Tamiang.
Especially in the Aceh Region, four IPA Mobile units, 20 water tankers, 12 biority units, 63 public hydrants, 26 portable toilets, seven emergency toilets, 39 water towers, and three fecal vacuum units have been distributed and operated.
In addition to the facilities that have been operating, the PU Ministry is also mobilizing additional facilities to support Aceh Province, including eight IPA Mobile units, two water tankers, seven public hydrants, 21 emergency toilets, four water towers, and eight units of mud cleaning facilities. area.
"This effort is expected to help meet the basic needs of the community, prevent health risks, and support the acceleration of post-disaster recovery," he added.
