Music Industry Critic, Justin Bieber: I'm Not a Product
JAKARTA - Justin Bieber has once again sparked heated discussions on the internet after launching a sharp criticism of the global music industry mechanism.
Through a series of emotional uploads on his personal Instagram account, the 31-year-old singer confirmed his identity, who had felt shackled by market expectations and massive commercial demands.
In his post, Bieber shared Bible verses accompanied by deep reflections on his career journey. He stated that he was not just a trade commodity that could be fully regulated by labels or industries.
"I'm not speaking as a victim who is still wounded, I'm speaking as someone who has been restored," Bieber wrote, quoting the caption of the upload, Monday, December 29.
He emphasized that his current motivation was not revenge for past bad experiences, but rather an atonement.
"I am not a product. I am not what the industry asks for. I am a son," he added.
The singer who started his career at a young age explained that the mental healing process he went through had given him the strength to forgive. According to him, forgiving does not mean pretending that injustice never happened, but an effort so that the pain no longer haunts his life.
Bieber also clarified that his goal was not to destroy the music industry, but to see more meaningful changes. "I want to see it updated - safer, more honest, more humane," he said.
Bieber's anxiety is not the first time it has been revealed to the public. In June, he was open about the anger management problem he was facing. Previously, he also admitted that he had hated himself when he felt like he was an unauthentic figure just to please others.
The feeling of being a fraud also often haunts him in the midst of public praise that considers him worthy of all the luxuries as a star.
