Masniari Wolf Speeds up Physical Preparation for the 2026 Asian Games
JAKARTA - Swimming athlete Masniari Wolf feels that he still has enough time to prepare physically for the 2026 Asian Games which will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The mixed-blood swimmer from Batak and Germany has just won a gold medal from the 2025 Thailand SEA Games. He came out as the best in the women's 50-meter backstroke.
Masniari said that later he would swim seven to eight kilometers twice a day until the next few months as preparation for the Asian Games.
"I hope the preparations for the Asian Games go well," he said in a statement received.
Masniari Wolf managed to sprint to the finish line with a time of 28.80 seconds to stand on the highest podium at the 2025 SEA Games.
It was the third consecutive SEA Games gold medal he won. Previously, he also achieved the same achievement in Vietnam (2021) and Cambodia (2023). This achievement makes him now nicknamed the queen of the 50-meter backstroke in Southeast Asia.
Masniari said that this achievement was thanks to the hard work he had done since he was so young. He also hopes to achieve more with Indonesia at a higher level.
"I've been swimming all my life and as a kid I kept doing it because it was fun," he said.
Before becoming a queen of backstroke, Masniari actually practiced several types of swimming styles such as butterfly and freestyle.
The 20-year-old athlete said that he had wanted to pursue freestyle swimming, but his coach saw that he had potential in the backstroke which is now his mainstay.
"Because I have speed in that style," said Masniari.
In addition to trying to achieve achievements at the 2026 Asian Games, Masniari will also be Indonesia's hope on a bigger stage.
After returning from Japan, he still has a long time to fight for a ticket to the 2028 Olympics which will take place in Los Angeles, USA.
