BRIN Head Encourages the Use of AI to Strengthen the Independence of Remote Sensing Technology

Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Arif Satria, encourages the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to strengthen the capabilities of remote sensing technology.

With AI, satellite image data is not only visual, but also produces precise analysis. Arif also emphasized that this AI-based approach is very necessary to build technological independence.

The speed of this analysis is considered very important, especially to handle disasters in various regions of Indonesia. AI-based 3D modeling technology is expected to be able to effectively compare data before and after disasters.

"Satellite images not only take the form of images, but can directly interpret image analysis," said Arif, quoted from the BRIN official website on Monday, December 29. He emphasized that this acceleration of AI innovation must be the main focus in the coming years.

The focus of AI research at BRIN will involve cross-field collaboration ranging from electro, telecommunications, to data science. Arif invites researchers to develop research that is sharper and more relevant to the real needs of the community.

Apart from the remote sensing sector, BRIN also emphasizes its role in strengthening the competitiveness of the national electronics industry. In this case, researchers are asked not only to master the technical aspects, but also to understand the dynamics of the market and the constellation of the global industry.

Through adequate research facilities and superior researcher competencies, Arif is optimistic that BRIN will become the main strength of the nation. Arif is determined to continue to strengthen cross-disciplinary collaboration to realize Indonesia's technological independence in the future.
