Seskab Tedd Claims 600 Housing Units for Victims of the Sumatra Flood Will Be Completed Next Week

JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that as many as 600 residential houses for flood victims in Sumatra are targeted to be completed next week, as part of the acceleration of post-disaster handling carried out by the government.

"Regarding the number of housing units, in this one month, in the next week there will be 600 housing units, next week God willing," said Teddy in a press conference on Post-disaster Recovery and Strategic Plans before the End of the Year, at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 29.

In addition, Teddy said the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) was also working on the construction of 450 housing units for flood victims.

He said President Prabowo Subianto had instructed the acceleration of the construction of residential houses for disaster victims through the assignment to the CEO of the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (Danantara) Rosan Roeslani.

The total housing that Danantara is targeting to build reaches 15,000 units as part of recovery efforts for flood-affected communities in Sumatra.

In addition, he said, the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning has also started the construction of permanent housing.

Last week, the construction of 2,500 residential units had begun by utilizing land provided by the state-owned enterprise PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN).

Teddy added that the construction of housing would continue next week with plans to build an additional 2,500 units.

"Next week we will build another 2,500 in the three provinces," said the Secretary of the Cabinet, Teddy.
