Ministry of Social Affairs Disburses Rp100.4 Billion for the Sumatra Disaster, Compensation for Victims of Death in One Step

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has distributed emergency disaster response assistance in Sumatra worth Rp. 100.48 billion. The assistance has been received by the affected areas in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.

Deputy Minister of Social Affairs (Wamensos) Agus Jabo said the assistance was in the form of food, family kits, kidsware, and food ingredients for 42 public kitchens. In detail, Aceh received Rp. 43.60 billion, West Sumatra Rp. 19.41 billion, and North Sumatra Rp. 37.45 billion.

In addition to logistics, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed compensation for the deceased. Compensation of Rp. 15 million per person has been given to 86 heirs with a total of Rp. 1.29 billion. The distribution includes Pidie Regency with two people, Pidie Jaya 30 people, and Sibolga City 54 people.

"The next distribution will follow for victims in Padang Panjang," Agus Jabo told reporters at the Halim Perdanakusumah Jakarta disaster post, Monday, December 29.

He emphasized that the disbursement was carried out after the data was verified by the local government and BNPB.

Kemensos also prepared post-disaster assistance for the recovery of affected residents. The assistance includes cash funds of Rp. 3 million per family for the needs of temporary or permanent housing furniture. In addition, there is an additional assistance of Rp. 450 thousand per person per month for three months for families living in temporary and permanent housing.

For economic recovery, the Ministry of Social Affairs has prepared empowerment support worth Rp5 million per family, which is disbursed based on the results of field assessments.
