The Ministry of Transportation Says the 2025 Christmas Homecoming Flow is Under Control

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) stated that the Christmas 2025 homecoming traffic, both at crossings and on land, was observed to run safely, smoothly and under control during the momentum.

"We evaluate and analyze that passing the Christmas holiday homecoming period, people's movement by land mode is safe and smooth," said Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Aan Suhanan in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 29.

According to Aan, the Christmas homecoming flow is safe and smooth thanks to the hard work and collaboration carried out between stakeholders to create a safe, safe and comfortable end-of-year holiday for the community.

He said that since H-7 to H+1 Christmas holiday or December 26, 2025, data was obtained for 1,519,397 people using public bus transportation. Then 1,731,248 people used the ferry transportation both to go home or travel.

Meanwhile, in the crossing sector, there was an increase in passengers of 24.11 percent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, for road transport passengers, there was a decrease of 6.48 percent compared to the same period last year.

He said that on the Christmas holiday H+1 2025, data was obtained for 188,720 people who used the crossing transport, an increase of 27.01 percent compared to the same period last year. Then as many as 164,164 people who traveled by bus mode, decreased by 13.53 percent compared to the same period last year.

For vehicles leaving Jakarta through toll roads, it has reached 1,582,977 units as of December 26, 2025, an increase of 8.12 percent compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, vehicles entering Jakarta through toll roads reached 1,488,424 units, an increase of 3.84 percent compared to the same period last year.

In addition to tolls, his party also listed vehicles that passed through arterial roads, namely, as many as 4,768,603 vehicles left Jabodetabek, an increase of 17.14 percent compared to the same period last year and as many as 4,292,160 vehicles entered Jabodetabek, an increase of 12.55 percent compared to the same period last year.

"In addition, what needs to be appreciated is the increase in the average speed of the Jakarta-Semarang journey by 0.67 percent compared to Christmas and New Year the previous year which was originally 83.45 Km/Hour to 84.02 Km/Hour," said Aan.

Aan said the average cumulative travel time acceleration was faster -0.83 percent compared to the previous Christmas and tabun, which was originally 5 hours 13 minutes to 5 hours 10 minutes.

For the opposite direction, namely Semarang - Jakarta, there was also an increase in the cumulative average speed. Up 5.3 percent compared to Christmas, which was originally 80.86 Km/Jam to 85.14 Km/Jam.

"The cumulative average travel time improvement is faster -5.2 percent compared to last Christmas which was originally 5 hours 23 minutes to 5 hours 6 minutes," explained Aan.

He appealed that all joint officers in the field could consistently provide the best service to the community and reminded the public to cooperate to prioritize safety aspects, especially for public transportation users.
