Flood Impact Mitigation, Holywings Helps Karet Kuningan Residents Make a Soakaway Well

JAKARTA - As the capital and center of Indonesia's economic activities, Jakarta's seasonal flooding problem, which is an annual phenomenon, is still a challenge. High rainfall to limited drainage capacity is considered the main trigger for waterlogging in various areas in DKI Jakarta.

Based on the report of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the DKI Jakarta Province, several periods of flooding in 2025 showed significant impacts of standing water in various areas.

The geographical condition of Jakarta which is located in a low-lying area with large rivers, as well as extreme rainfall patterns, is the main factor for the risk of flooding that continues to overshadow the lives of urban residents.

One of the efforts that are considered quite effective in mitigating the effects of Jakarta flooding is the construction of infiltration wells. Infiltration wells help optimize the infiltration of rainwater into the ground so that it can reduce the burden of surface water flooding while helping to replenish groundwater. Regulations such as those listed in the DKI Jakarta Governor's Regulation require the development of infiltration wells in every new development area.

However, in practice, the number of infiltration wells built is still far from the ideal target with many areas that need to strengthen this infrastructure is a real example of the problem of water management in Jakarta.

In order to support flood mitigation efforts, the Holywings Peduli CSR program from the Holywings Group has carried out a real movement in the Karet Kuningan Village, South Jakarta. One of them is the provision of a drilling machine to be used in the construction of infiltration wells in the area.

The provision of this drilling machine is a concrete contribution to help accelerate the construction of infiltration wells, a practical solution so that rainwater can be absorbed more effectively into the ground and reduce the potential for flooding during the rainy season. Initiatives like this are an important part of a collaborative approach between the private sector, local government, and residents to sustainably tackle flood disasters.

The handover of the drilling machine assistance was carried out at the Satrio Superhouse on December 28, which was attended by Andrew Susanto, President Commissioner of the Holywings Group and also Chairman of the Holywings Peduli CSR Program. The drilling machine was symbolically handed over to Istambul Afrikana, the head of the Karet Kuningan Village as part of a joint effort in flood control.

Andrew Susanto said that this assistance is part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program which focuses on environmental and disaster issues. The program is designed to provide solutions that are applicable and have a long-term impact on the community.

"Holywings Peduli sees the problem of flooding in Jakarta as a common challenge that requires collaboration from various parties. Through the provision of drilling machines for the construction of infiltration wells in Karet Kuningan Village, South Jakarta, we hope to support efforts to prevent flooding sustainably. This initiative is a manifestation of our commitment to continue to be present and make a real contribution to the environment and society," said Andrew in a written statement.

This assistance was welcomed by the Karet Kuningan sub-district which is still often plagued by flooding problems.

"We express our appreciation and gratitude to Holywings Peduli for the support provided through the drilling machine assistance. This facility will be used for the construction of infiltration wells which are expected to help reduce the risk of flooding and flooding in the Karet Kuningan Village area. The village government welcomes this collaboration as a form of mutual concern for the environment and the safety of the community," said Istanbul Afrikana Karet Kuningan Village Head.

The problem of flooding in Jakarta is still a major challenge. The flood data for 2025 reflects that flooding remains a chronic problem that requires multisectoral mitigation. These CSR programs complement the efforts of the government, the private sector and the community to create a city that is more resilient to future flood threats.

The series of events not only focuses on the delivery of assistance, but also provides other entertainment for the residents who come. The event, which is a collaboration between Holywings Peduli with Superhouse Satrio, Helen's Tori Mart and Helen's Live Bar Epicentrum, is also equipped with aeroboxing sports activities together with various games, ranging from throwing balls with Handphone and basic necessities to ping pong relay, which are enthusiastically welcomed by participants with HW food voucher prizes.
