BPH Migas ensures that fuel stocks in the East Java tourist area are safe ahead of the new year
JAKARTA - The Oil and Gas Upstream Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) ensures that fuel oil (BBM) stocks in the East Java (Jatim) tourist area are in a safe condition ahead of the peak of the 2025 New Year's holiday.
Head of BPH Migas Wahyudi Anas, in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday, said based on monitoring, fuel stocks were safe and distribution was running smoothly, even though there was an increase in vehicle traffic.
"We have monitored, checked, and verified the fuel stock at the Surabaya-Malang line gas stations. Fuel stocks are safe and available, an average of 65-80 percent of the tank capacity," he said, while reviewing the Km 66A Pandaan Rest Area gas station, Pasuruan, East Java, Saturday (27/12).
To anticipate the surge in fuel needs, Wahyudi explained that gas stations on the main route to the tourist area have been strengthened with the operation of pocket gas stations.
"There are tanker trucks (tanker SPBU) which can accelerate the delivery of fuel if there is an increase in public consumption during the Christmas-New Year holidays leading to Malang Raya and its surroundings. Fuel can be brought in directly and unloaded at the location," he said.
Monitoring was also carried out at the Malang Fuel Terminal (TBBM) and a number of gas stations in the Malang and Batu tourist areas.
According to Wahyudi, nationally, as of December 26, 2025, fuel consumption has increased in almost all types of products.
For pertalite types, there was an increase of 1.08 percent, pertamax increased by 5.91 percent, biosolar increased by 2.05 percent, pertamina dex increased by 37.062 percent, and avtur also increased by 4.04 percent.
Wahyudi added that the supply of fuel for 25 SPBU in the Malang City area has been adjusted to the needs and consumption patterns of the community during the long holiday.
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has also built up 80-90 percent fuel stock according to the fuel tank capacity at 7 SPBU and 2 pocket SPBU and 4 modular SPBU have been alerted.
Through this monitoring activity, the supply of fuel for people who will go on vacation must be in a safe condition.
"Together with Pertamina Patra Niaga Area East Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara, readiness to meet fuel for the community has been ensured," he said.
Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Roberth MV Dumatubun emphasized that his party was fully committed to maintaining the reliability of energy supply during the Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 holiday period, especially in areas with potential for consumption spikes such as tourist routes.
"Pertamina Patra Niaga has taken proactive steps through strengthening stocks, optimizing distribution, and managing additional facilities such as pocket gas stations and modular gas stations. All of these efforts we are doing to ensure that the public's fuel needs are met safely and smoothly during the holiday season," he said.
He added that Pertamina Patra Niaga also continues to coordinate with BPH Migas, local governments, and related authorities to monitor the dynamics of consumption in the field.
"With the support of a standby tanker fleet, an integrated distribution monitoring system, and the discipline of tanker crew, we ensure that the distribution of fuel runs according to safety standards and services to the community," he said again.
One of the tanker truck crew (AMT), Bintoro, revealed that he continued to maintain vigilance and discipline so that the distribution of fuel was smooth to the gas station.
"If AMT colleagues are sleepy, they rest in a designated place. Currently, in the tank car, various facilities such as cameras (dashcams) and global positioning systems (GPS) have been equipped," he concluded.
