Heavy Rain Causes Flooding, Several Train Journeys in Purwakarta Disrupted
PURWAKARTA - A number of train trips were disrupted due to waterlogging and falling materials on the Purwakarta-Ciganea road section, Purwakarta Regency, West Java, Sunday, December 28.
The Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 2 Bandung, Kuswardojo, quoted from Antara, apologized to customers for the delay in a number of train trips that occurred on Sunday afternoon.
He explained that the waterlogging and falling materials were observed on the Purwakarta-Ciganea road section at 15.45 WIB. This condition is the impact of heavy rain that has flooded the Purwakarta area since noon, thus affecting the rail line infrastructure at the location.
In an effort to prioritize the safety and security of travel, KAI Daop 2 Bandung temporarily stopped a number of trains that crossed the point of disruption of the rail line infrastructure.
The trains that were temporarily stopped included the Papandayan train (129) which was stopped at Ciganea Station, the Garut Commuter Line (350) which stopped at Purwakarta Station, and the Garut Commuter Line (349) which was at Sasaksaat Station.
Kuswardojo said that the potential for greater travel disruptions could be detected immediately thanks to the vigilance of the Special Regional Guard (Dapsus) officers who carried out route supervision for 24 hours.
Immediate anticipatory steps were taken to ensure that the condition of the track was completely safe before the train journey resumed.
"Railway travel safety is our top priority. As soon as officers in the field detect puddles of water and falling materials that could potentially disrupt infrastructure, we immediately stop train travel as a safety measure," said Kuswardojo.
As a follow-up, the KAI Infrastructure Team Daop 2 Bandung carried out handling at the location to accelerate the normalization process of the line.
A number of tools and materials for standby (AMUS) were also deployed so that the line could be declared safe immediately and could be resumed by train travel.
