Dirjenpas: 1.882 High-risk Prisoners to be Transferred to Nusakambangan Throughout 2025

JAKARTA - Director General of Corrections (Dirjenpas) Mashudi said that by the end of 2025, a total of 1,882 high-risk inmates had been transferred to correctional institutions (lapas) with maximum and super maximum security in Nusakambangan, Central Java.

Mashudi explained that the relocation, one of which was aimed at eliminating security and order disturbances. This step is also referred to as a form of implementation of guidance and security in accordance with the level of risk of the residents.

"Until the end of this year, a total of 1,882 high-risk inmates throughout Indonesia have been transferred to Nusakambangan. We hope that this effort will have a major impact on improving security and order in prisons and detention centers, especially zero narcotics and cellphones as always reminded by the Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto," he said in a statement. According to the Director General of the National Agency for Social Services, the most important goal of transferring high-risk inmates to Nusakambangan is a change in the behavior of the person concerned so that they can be better and realize their mistakes until they return to the community as good citizens.

Mashudi explained that the latest relocation was carried out on Saturday, December 27. A total of 130 high-risk inmates from Jambi, Riau, and Banten regions were transferred to various prisons in Nusakambangan.

Five of them were placed in Batu Prison, 31 people in Karanganyar Prison, 17 people in Besi Prison, 30 people in Gladakan Prison, 17 people in Narcotics Prison, and 30 others in Ngaseman Prison.

Head of Batu Prison and Nusakambangan Regional Coordinator Irfan said the transfer was escorted by the Directorate of Security and Intelligence of the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas), officers at the Jambi, Riau, and Banten Ditjenpas Regional Office, and the police.

"The acceptance is carried out according to SOP (standard operating procedures), including health checks and other administrative activities," he said.
