Indonesia Emphasizes that the Conflict in Yemen Must Be Resolved Peacefully through Inclusive and Comprehensive Dialogue
JAKARTA - Indonesia emphasizes the importance of resolving the conflict in Yemen between Saudi Arabia which supports the local government and separatist groups.
In its upload on the X social media, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote, "Indonesia is closely following the development of the situation in the Republic of Yemen, including in Hadramout and Al-Mahra, and expresses concern about the increasing tensions that have the potential to worsen the security situation and increase the suffering of the Yemeni people," as quoted Saturday (27/12).
"Indonesia calls on all parties to refrain, stop escalation, and avoid unilateral actions that can disrupt stability," the ministry continued.
"In this regard, Indonesia notes and appreciates the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and related countries, together with stakeholders in Yemen, to ease tensions and restore stability," the ministry added.
Previously, the political organization of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) of Yemen reportedly carried out a unilateral military movement and made territorial advances in the eastern governorates of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahrah, quoted from Antara.
The actions taken by the STC have increased tensions and threatened the security environment in the country.
Saudi Arabia reiterated its support for the Government of Yemen, following an air strike carried out on Friday against the positions of separatist groups in Hadramaut.
"Indonesia reaffirms the importance of a peaceful settlement through inclusive and comprehensive political dialogue, under the coordination of the United Nations, and in line with the principle of respect for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Yemen," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The conflict in Yemen has been going on for more than a decade, with competing groups getting support from regional states.
