The Ministry of Transportation reminds truck drivers to use toll roads and arteries during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) together with the National Police, Jasa Marga and Jasa Raharja carried out an analysis and evaluation of the implementation of the Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 transportation operations.

The results of the evaluation reminded the 3-axle truck to comply with the operational restrictions on freight transport on toll and non-toll (arteries) during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 transport period.

The Director General of Land Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan reminded freight transport entrepreneurs to carry out the policy of the Joint Decree (SKB) No. KP-DRJD 6774 of 2025, 122/KPTS/Db/2025, and Kep/268/XII/2025 regarding operational restrictions on freight transport on toll roads and non-toll roads (arteries) during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year transport period.

The schedule for three-axle trucks to go up is prohibited from crossing the toll road continuously from December 19, 2025 to January 4, 2026, there is no window time. Then, it is prohibited to cross non-toll roads or arteries on December 19, 2025 to January 4, 2026, from 05.00 to 22.00 local time.

"Therefore, for entrepreneurs, vehicle owners and drivers, we remind you to comply with these rules for the safety and smoothness of traffic," Aan said in a written statement, Saturday, December 27.

Not only that, Aan also appealed to the public who would travel by bus mode to first check the roadworthiness status of the vehicle to be used. Checking can be done through the Mitra Darat application which can be downloaded on a smartphone.

According to him, it is important to comply when traveling, especially during the Christmas and New Year's transportation period. Aan added that for people who will travel home or go on vacation with public transportation, they should always check the legality of the vehicle to be used through the Mitra Darat application.

"We hope that the public will continue to be careful when traveling and always comply with the directions and instructions of officers in the field, so that they can return safely. For those who will travel to check the status of the BLU-e bus to be used whether it is roadworthy or not," he said.

"The way is very easy through the Land Partner application on the Cek Laik feature, enter the vehicle number and the status of KPS and BLU-e will be displayed," he continued.

He emphasized that people who do not use buses do not have a surveillance card and buses whose periodic test validity has expired will be very dangerous.

Meanwhile, the National Police's Deputy Chief of Staff, Inspector General Pol. Agus Suryonugroho, said his party would take firm action against violations that occurred during the Christmas and New Year transportation operation. He said, sanctions would be imposed on freight that still crossed toll roads during the Christmas and New Year holidays 2025/2026.

"The results of the joint agreement in accordance with the SKB are clear that three-axle vehicles are prohibited from crossing toll roads, including arterial roads at certain times. We remind that freight does not cross toll roads. And those who violate, we will take firm action if necessary, we will fine them, because we prioritize safety and humanity for people who are celebrating Christmas and New Year and traveling for the holidays," he explained.

Based on the results of the interim analysis and evaluation, the National Police Traffic Directorate noted that the flow of vehicles leaving Jakarta was around 49 percent of the total projection of 2.9 million vehicles.

In addition, the number of traffic accidents and fatalities during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 transportation period decreased by 23.23 percent compared to the same period last year.

In line with this, the President Director of PT Jasa Marga Rivan Achmad Purwanto also conveyed data from his party which recorded until Friday, December 26, 2025, at 14.00 WIB, as many as 1.4 million vehicles had left the Jakarta area. Rivan assessed that the figure would continue to increase until it approached the end of December 2025.

"So from the projection of 2.9 million vehicles through toll roads during this Christmas, the data on vehicle movement until 2 p.m. this afternoon is reaching 1,457,000, which means 49 percent. This compared to 2024 means an increase of 3.5 percent and we estimate it will continue to move until December 30," he said.

The Ministry of Transportation and stakeholders will make the results of the analysis and evaluation of the Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 transportation operations as the basis for strengthening supervision and strategies for regulating traffic flow and the return flow of homecoming and Nataru holidays.

This is done to ensure that people's travel during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year transportation period is safe, secure and smooth.
