God is Present in the Rain: The Atmosphere of the Christmas Mass at the Jakarta Cathedral in 2025

JAKARTA - Heavy rain that has been pouring down on Jakarta since Thursday afternoon, December 25, did not hinder the intentions of thousands of parishioners to celebrate Christmas at the Cathedral Church, Central Jakarta.

The Jakarta Cathedral Church can accommodate around 4,500-5,000 worshipers each time for the Christmas Eve Mass and Christmas Day Mass this year.

However, the capacity inside the church is only 800 people. Thousands of other parishioners were forced to sit in the courtyard outside under a tent.

The pontifical Christmas Mass was led by the Archbishop of Jakarta Ignatius Cardinal Suharyo which started at 08.30 WIB.

The theme of Christmas 2025 is God is Coming to Save the Family.
