MotoGP 2026, Marc Marquez is not sure he is as good as 2025 season
JAKARTA - The 2026 MotoGP competition season is already in sight, but Marc Marquez actually admitted that he was not sure his performance could be as good as the 2025 season.
MotoGP 2026 will start rolling on February 27 to March 1 with the Thailand MotoGP as the opener and ending with the Valencia MotoGP.
Marquez's decision to join Ducati last season made his appearance so exciting. Proof of this, in the first season with the Italian manufacturer, Marquez immediately won the title.
Not to mention, The Baby Alien can even secure the 2025 MotoGP champion even though the season still has five races left. Marquez is 78 points ahead of his closest rival, Alex Marquez.
Quoted from Crash, Marquez admitted that his goal was always to compete for the title. However, welcoming the 2026 season, he even doubted that he could repeat the 2025 season.
"No, I never imagined a year as great as this. I hope it is the goal, I even said it, that I can try to fight for the world championship," he told El Periodico quoted Friday, December 26.
"But, it's not like this, securing the title with five races left. Right now, I think it's almost impossible to repeat it, because between the sprints and the races, there are so many points to be fought for every weekend, it's not easy," Marquez added.
The 32-year-old rider said that the 2025 MotoGP was carried out solidly. Even though he made some mistakes, Marquez was able to pay for it by winning many races.
Currently, Marquez is still recovering from a shoulder injury after an accident at the 2025 Mandalika MotoGP. Alex Marquez's older brother feels that his recovery is going well.
"We were immobilized for four or five weeks, and of course, the arm lost a lot of strength, but now we are gradually improving, with checks every two weeks to make sure everything is going well and according to plan."
"The bones need to heal properly; we have to wait, and the ligaments also need to recover as best as possible. Hopefully, we can immediately switch to a slightly more intensive rehabilitation," said Marquez.
