iCar V23 Off-road SUV proves safety with 5 ASEAN NCAP stars

JAKARTA - The SUV car from the Chery Group, iCaur or iCar V23, which is rumored to enter Indonesia, has managed to get five stars in the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) test.

Chery iCar V23 received a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating with an overall score of 91.02 points. The overall score was obtained from four ASEAN NCAP assessment categories.

In the adult passenger protection category (AOP), this SUV managed to get 39.71 points out of 40 points. Meanwhile, for the child passenger protection category (COP) 16.67 points out of 20 points.

For safety features, it received 17.14 points out of 20. Finally, the motorcycle rider safety category (MS) received 17.50 points out of 20, which made it a total score of 91.02 points.

The iCar SUV that the VOI team tried directly when visiting China does offer a series of premium features, such as six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for the driver and front passenger, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, ISOFIX for child seats, Blind Spot Detection (BSD) which covers both sides of the vehicle, Auto High Beam (AHB), and Pedestrian Protection (PP) as standard features in all variants.

Other advanced safety assistance technologies available in this off-road SUV as standard equipment include AEB for motorcycles, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Keep Assist (LKA).

The ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 assessment protocol currently covers four assessment domains, with AOP contributing 40.00 points out of the overall score. COP, SA, and MS each contribute 20.00 points.

2025, marking the last year of the 2021-2025 assessment protocol. Assessment based on the 2026-2030 protocol will begin in January 2026.
