North Sumatra Governor Speeds Up the Implementation of Housing for Flood Victims
JAKARTA - The Governor of North Sumatra (Sumut), Bobby Nasution, continues to accelerate the realization of permanent housing (huntap) for victims affected by floods and landslides in the Sumut region.
Bobby said that his party had taken several acceleration steps, namely data collection to verify houses that were slightly damaged, medium, heavy, and missing.
"In total, there are 30,875 houses (damaged, ed.) of the community. Now the data is by name by address," said Bobby after a discussion meeting on the development of post-disaster Sumatra huntap with a number of ministers online, in Medan, Thursday, December 25, 2025, reported by Antara.
The North Sumatra Governor targets that by the end of 2025, the verification stage of data collection will be completed so that people affected by disasters can immediately occupy permanent housing.
"Now it's in the verification stage. By the end of 2025, we hope that the verification will be completed," said Bobby.
In addition, his party is also accelerating the provision of land for the construction of permanent housing, such as 227 units at the Hapesong Rubber Plantation owned by PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) IV, Hapesong Baru Village, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra.
This development is carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) RI together with the Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation.
"Meanwhile, the regional government (local government) has started the Provincial Government and the Regency/City Government in North Sumatra to prepare the land," said Bobby.
The Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) of the Republic of Indonesia, Maruarar Sirait, appreciated the steps taken by the Governor of North Sumatra Bobby Nasution.
Maruarar also asked that the construction of permanent housing for victims affected by floods and landslides in the North Sumatra region be escorted until it is completed.
"I am very happy, because the Governor can coordinate well. Please be escorted, yes, Governor. That is an example in North Tapanuli, I have locked it (finished March 21, 2026, ed.)," said the Minister, who is familiarly called Ara.
Minister of the COVID-19 Emergency Maruarar Sirait together with Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, accompanied by Deputy Governor of North Sumatra Surya, laid the first stone for the construction of a shelter for flood victims in three districts/cities in North Sumatra, namely Central Tapanuli, South Tapanuli, and Sibolga, at the Pinangsori Haji Dormitory, Central Tapanuli, Sunday, December 21, 2021.
The Ministry of Civil Registration will build as many as 200 permanent residences in Sibolga, then 118 permanent residences in Central Tapanuli, 103 permanent residences in North Tapanuli, and 227 permanent residences in South Tapanuli.
In Sibolga, the location is in the Sports Arena (GOR) area, Central Tapanuli in the Haji Pinangsori Dormitory, North Tapanuli in Sibalanga Village, and South Tapanuli in the Hapesong Rubber Plantation owned by PTPN IV.
"So, I lock, all collaboration, the land is the local government, the province intervenes directly, the regent is also good at supervising," said Ara.
