Bapanas Ensures the Availability of Safe Chicken Eggs Until Eid 2026
JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) ensures that the availability of pure chicken eggs supported by domestic farmers nationwide is in a safe and sufficient position during Ramadan until Eid 2026.
"Our national stock of eggs is very much. The point is that it meets the national needs. Nationally, the availability of eggs is very much. Through Ramadan it is also safe. We have a surplus. We have no problem with eggs," said Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization Bapanas I Gusti Ketut Astawa in his statement in Jakarta, Thursday.
Responding to the fluctuation in the price of food commodities, according to him, this is more seasonal, not because of President Prabowo Subianto's priority program, namely Free Nutritious Meals (MBG). The effect of MBG on the consumption needs of pure chicken eggs this year is still not significant.
"If I look at the MBG program, it has an influence but a little. Currently, it is called Christmas and New Year, demand is up to an increase," said Ketut.
In the National Food Balance Projection, continued Ketut, the national demand for pure chicken eggs, including for the needs of the MBG Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), can be fully supplied from within the country.
"Of the total national consumption needs, the portion of SPPG needs is still not so large," he explained.
The annual consumption needs for purebred chicken eggs are estimated to reach 6.487 million tons. Of the total, the SPPG needs in 2025 is around 1.96 percent or 127.3 thousand tons of purebred chicken eggs. Meanwhile, the annual egg production is still larger because it can reach 6.561 million tons.
The end-of-year stock for purebred chicken eggs nationwide also increased rapidly compared to the end-of-year stock.
Bapanas projects that the end-of-year stock of purebred chicken eggs can be at 74,500 tons. That jumped to 154.2 percent compared to the end-of-2024 stock which was 29,300 tons.
Even so, the government will continue to monitor the development of the price of broiler eggs. The price of broiler eggs that are in demand by the public needs to be in accordance with the Sales Reference Price (HAP) at the consumer level that has been set by the government at Rp30,000 per kilogram (kg).
"In principle, we have often met with our fellow farmers. They are committed to staying in the price range of Rp22,000, Rp 23,000 to Rp25,000 per kg. This means that traders should still be able to sell at Rp30,000 per kg," said Ketut.
He said that based on the Food Price Panel managed by Bapanas, the average price of broiler eggs at the consumer level nationwide has started to depreciate slightly in the last week. Government supervision will be intensified so that the price of eggs for the public can lead to a reasonable price level.
As of December 24, the average price was IDR 31,595 per kg. This began to decline from the previous week which was IDR 31,671 per kg and compared to the previous day which was IDR 31,669 per kg.
Meanwhile, the province with the lowest average price of pure chicken eggs is Bali with Rp. 27,635 per kg or about 7.8 percent lower than the HAP.
Meanwhile, the average national price of broiler eggs is above the consumer level HAP, starting in October. At that time, the average monthly price of broiler eggs was Rp30,436 per kg.
Separately, the Head of Bapanas and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized that his staff must not be negligent in monitoring the dynamics of the strategic staple food price of eggs, including chicken eggs.
"The eggs were good, but we must not be careless. The eggs are enough. I say don't get on. If you get on, we will take action. This is because our stock is sufficient. Chicken eggs are more than enough. So it's safe," said Minister of Agriculture/Head of Bapanas Amran at Wonokromo Market, Surabaya, East Java (23/12).
