Honey Lee and Her Husband Investigated for Alleged Illegal Company for Almost 10 Years

JAKARTA - Actress Honey Lee and her husband are reportedly undergoing an examination related to the alleged illegal operation of an entertainment company. They run the company but do not register in accordance with their obligations.

Tuesday, December 23, the Gangnam Police said they had summoned Honey Lee and her husband, Mr. Jang and their company, Hope Project, for an examination without detention.

Honey Lee is said to have founded a company called Honey Co in 2015. Three years later, he changed it to Hope Project.

The husband became the interim CEO while she became the director. The company is said to have run for almost 10 years without registering in accordance with the requirements of the Law on the Development of Popular Culture and Art.

The law states that businesses run by more than one person must be registered. Those who violate it can be sentenced to up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.

Honey Lee's side stated, "We don't understand the registration process and didn't make the procedure."

Then, they stated that they had registered their company on October 28, but they would coordinate with the authorities for this matter.

Previously, the Hope Project was controversial for not paying taxes until it received an audit from the Seoul Tax Office last year. They also did not pay salaries according to the rules and bought a building under the company's name after it was established.

When attending the press conference for the Aema series, Honey Lee explained that their case was still being monitored by the authorities and that she had done what was necessary.

On the other hand, Honey Lee gave birth to her second child this year and is preparing for her new drama, Show Business.
